Reflection silencer
Damping of low frequencies under high backpressure
Reflection silencers provide broadband damping with high attenuation in the low-frequency range. The sound is reflected multiple times by integrated intermediate walls. Narrowed pipe cross-sections between the chambers ensure that unwanted sound is trapped in the individual cavities, where it is eventually eliminated through frequency overlap. The increased exhaust resistance also has a sound-dampening effect, but leads to significantly higher pressure losses.
Reflection silencers are primarily used for sound sources with high low-frequency noise components and sufficient available exhaust overpressure.
