Absorption silencer
Broadband attenuation in the high and mid-frequency range
Broadband attenuation in the high and mid-frequency range
Silencers working on the absorption principle achieve sound reduction primarily in the middle and high-frequency range through the use of open-pored, sound-absorbing materials, such as mineral wool. The sound waves from the exhaust flow pass through a perforated sheet inside, reaching the mineral wool behind it, where they are absorbed, and the sound energy is converted into heat due to friction effects.
All Jeremias absorption silencers are filled with non-combustible mineral wool. To protect it from fiber release due to the exhaust flow, a protective fleece is often incorporated between the perforated sheet and the mineral wool. Depending on the composition of the exhaust gases and operating conditions, different materials are used to protect the mineral wool:
Type | for | Fabric type | Function |
---|---|---|---|
ASD | Boilers | Stainless steel wool fleece | Protection against fiber release, condensate permeable |
AED | Engines / CHP | High-temperature fabric / stainless steel wool fleece | Protection against fiber release, suitable for high temperatures |
AVD | Fans / Biomass | Durable fiberglass fabric | Protection against fiber release and contamination |
