CHIMNEY TERMINAL
Optimization of Chimney Draft Conditions
Wind entering the chimney can slow down the natural draft and impair the combustion of the boiler, potentially allowing harmful gases to enter the living space in the worst-case scenario.
Passing outside winds can also disrupt the proper functioning of the flue. These winds may draw the exhaust gases out of the chimney, causing excessive oxygen to enter the system. This, in turn, artificially enhances the combustion process, leading to increased fuel consumption and higher heating costs.
In both cases, the use of a chimney terminal is recommended to optimize chimney performance. It helps prevent uneven draft and ensures optimal gas discharge.
Additionally, a chimney terminal, also called a chimney cap, can serve as a small chimney extension when the chimney height needs to be slightly increased due to structural changes.
